Fathers Day Craft...

It is Fathers Day in Aust/NZ today and I wanted The Munchkin to give her Dad something she had created that would be used and appreciated. We even stayed away from a card this year as unlike me Mr HMH just doesn't 'get' them. I had pinned this idea on Pinterest and realised that we had the materials in our house already to create our version, so on Friday night we spent a few hours crafting!

I re-purposed some canvases that had previously displayed some fabric in one of our lounge rooms, the stack of Smiggle alphabet stickers I had picked up ages ago at the Post Office for $1 a pack, and we of course had paints and paintbrushes. I researched some corny father/daughter songs and came up with "I've got sunshine, on a cloudy day" - (My Girl) and "I am strong when I am on your shoulders" (You Raise Me Up - Josh Groban) which are actually quite fitting in our family. We also chose "You are in my heart, and I am in your heart" as it is something we say to each other every night.

The Munchkin and I talked colour options and she got them all ready while I stuck on all the quotes, and then she got painting. I was so proud of her colour choices and painting abilities! I showed her how we could blend the colours a little in between to create new colours and we were both really happy with how they turned out. She asked for pink which I (stupidly) tried to veto, she knew what she was doing though, when blended with the blue it of course made a gorgeous purple and looked fabulous!

After waiting patiently (The Munchkin did, I didn't!!)) for them to dry I carefully peeled off the letters...

...which made really pretty scraps. It was a pity they ripped, they would have made a really great opposite effect print...

...and ta-dah!
We have customised Father Days art! So happy with the project, and how well The Munchkin was able to participate. I can't wait to get them up on our wall now.

Oh and we also bought him a new Status Anxiety wallet (which is not a very inventive gift, but necessary) and this book :)

I hope your Fathers Days were equally fun!

Yours in appreciation,
Allana xxx
