Custom owls and some bloggy links...

A big Happy Easter weekend to all those celebrating! I hope you are all staying safe and enjoying time with your family and friends.

I have just stopped in to say that I am in the process of uploading some new bits and pieces into my etsy shop if you would like to have a peak and also to show you the completed custom owls I had been working on. They stand quite tall at approx 15cm and are worked with a double strand and filled with safe Inner Green toy filler. All details are sewn on so they are safe for children and babies (but please use your own discretion!)

If you would like to order one for yourself or for a gift please contact me either here or via an alchemy request on etsy!

If you feel like a little trip around lovely blog land may I offer you these suggestions:

See what my lovely customer Gilly has to say about her custom owls on her sweet scrapbooking blog here.

Check out some of the other lovely ladies participating in Kells' Vintage FQ Swap (sorry folks - closed but I'll let you know if I spot another one) here!

Drool over Bianca's gorgeous yellow coat (and her gorgeous vintage style in general) here!

Check in on what Kate has been creating over here!

See what can be done with a wooden sideboard and some perfect styling here!

Ogle some gorgeous wool colours and crochet over here!

or how about popping in to see Stella and check out the awesome homework she did with a few other talented ladies and maybe take up her homework assignment too!

Flea market Finds...

Cute Alfred Meakin dinner plate $1, sweet Japanese vintage chicken egg cup 50c and great linen tea towel 50c...

... vintage Polish Daschund puzzle 50c...

...pretty pink 2.5L thermos for my collection in box $2, Twinings tin (I have been trying to start a collection of these for ages  since seeing them here I think, but they have proven elusive until now!), vintage books and 4 little french glass dessert dishes $5 all together.

Playing along with Sophie again this week, it was so much fun last week! The Munchkin and I went to a couple of garage sales this weekend and found amazing things. I walked into the garage and realised straight away it was garage sale gold, oppie finds - pre oppie! Had I been able to carry more, or justify bringing home more treasures, I would have!

In other news I spent some time today photographing new products for my etsy shop. I will be back to show you tomorrow and maybe even offer some little treats to get the ball rolling a bit...

Yours in anticipation, xxx

Bloglovin'?...

So it would seem that I have been added to the Bloglovin' stream and to be honest I am not sure how I feel about it! I can see that it may be a good visitor generator but I wasn't consulted or advised before it was added and I kind of feel violated, like it's been taken away from me! I also have to send them an email if I chose to request to have it removed and yet surely it is my intellectual property? Am I over reacting? Thoughts please!

Yours in contemplation, xxx

And I wore a vintage sheet to the wedding...

Since I rarely post any pics of me I thought I'd show you this one of me wearing the dress I made from a vintage pattern and vintage sheet. It needs a little tweaking/fitting but was super comfortable to wear and I am really happy with it. I think I will make a self fabric sash too, a little wider than the silk one I am wearing.

So Hi!! This is me (SheeshI feel so vulnerable)...

Flea Market Finds - part 2...

So here's the remainder of my awesome oppie trips last week. Thanks so much and Hello! to everyone who found their way over from Her Library Adventures. I have had a great time popping by your blogs!

The original vintage beach umbrella is complete with the full pole intact and set me back about $2 at the Burnie tip shop. It was the perfect cover for our little impromptu picnic today!

The Munchkin spotted and chose the copper girl picture which I love, and the "twins" as they are now called were free! Other than new eyes on the girl and a good wash they are perfect and so detailed and gorgeous!

I could not believe my eyes when I spotted this pink Bilibo for $5 at the Oppie down the road from me! I have been considering one for The Munchkin for ever but wasn't sure if the concept would work - let me tell you it does! It has been used for all manner of things already and she loves to just sit inside it like a little coccoon on the couch. I don't usually buy plastic for our house but the great design and open ended play scope for this one does it for me. Do you have one? What kind of things do your children use it for?

I don't want to call this an army of little people, maybe a gaggle? A collection? Hmm anyway, the day before I had almost added a few of these to an online shopping cart I was frequenting and then changed my mind, to find 17 of these mostly large ones for $1 each was a gift horse I was unable to ignore! We will keep a few and maybe add some to gifts or create some steiner/waldorf type gnomes. Stay tuned!

Although the Munchkin is too big for these little hand knit baby jumpers I find it hard to leave them! They are so beautifully made and practically brand new. They were about $1 each and I have added them to the maybe-baby pile for now, otherwise they will be sold or passed on.

I could not pass up this pretty green hobby-tex painted apron (50c) or the vintage Myer dress ($1) which is earmarked for a sweet little girl we know!

Sweet corduroy overalls once again for the maybe-baby and a gorgeously coloured old-lady scarf ($2 for both)...

and a real vintage from Melbourne nylon shirt which I will be adding to the Green Room at our market this weekend, way too small for me unfortunately...

And last but not least two vintage sheets in excellent condition for the wonderful FQ swap happening over at Kell's Green Tea and Red Nails! I actually let out an audible squeak when I saw the bottom one, vintage sheet gold!

Thanks again to Sophie of Her Library Adventures for hosting Flea Market Finds, pop over to see what treasures everyone else has been finding!

Flea Market Finds...

I have had the most amazing week op shopping so thought I would join in with Sophie and her Flea Market finds over at Her Library Adventures. I will do this in two parts as there was a lot of oppie goodness and I need to get some better pics first.

A old primary school friend and I have re-discovered each other and through a mutual love of oppies and crafting rekindled our friendship. We met up at Lifeline and also hit Salvation Army and the tip shop with great success. I love how much more satisfying it is to spend $33 at Op Shops than to blow $100's at regular retail shops! The little collection of green above came together over the three shops. A brand new piece of green fleece perfect for making some custom ordered boys trousers, a melamine mug for our picnic basket in the car, a tiny no-brand tea cup (for free!) and some pieces to add to my New Zealand made collection.

This hand made doona cover was in the pet blanket box but I think it will be perfect as a picnic blanket. Love the vintage sheet blocks!

Pyrex jug (free!) and a gold Fire King pie dish *sigh*. My Nan has the mugs to match the dish so the style feels really nostalgic to me...

I chose a big stack of tshirts and a tablecloth to upcylcle into some boys trousers for a custom order, so much fun!

The sweetest little church hall stackable chairs for The Munchkin for a few dollars each, may have to go back for a few of the other colours!

I love that we are so blessed with our local op shops. They are mostly still of the rummage-through-find-a bargain variety. There is nothing worse than walking in to an Op Shop that has been edited down to nothing and completely overpriced!

That's all for tonight but I will be back soon with the remainder of my Oppie finds!

Thanks Sophie for hosting!
