Slow...

I have just started a Simplicity Parenting workshop and it has already helped me effect change in our home.

The Munchkin's room was in desperate need of a declutter (the rest of the house is still in the process!) and on Friday I got into it and sorted it out, storing, throwing and donating a few bags of "stuff"and reducing it down to the basics, and finding floor space on the process. My concepts were loosely based on Waldorf principles, the ideas in Simplicity Parenting and what felt right for us.

I still have her wardrobe to do. For now it is shrouded in pink and purple pashminas' which makes it seem visually much more restful.

It is really quite peaceful in there now, and finally a place to play, relax and dream...

Today I spotted her listening to an audio version of Jill Tomlinson's "The Hen Who Wouldn't Give Up". Mission accomplished I would say!

Now on to the "stuff" I dumped in our bedroom while I was sorting the sewing room...

simply yours,
Allana

  2. It is soooo cathartic I think :) We have just done something very similar and I am so amazed at just how much stuff I culled, yet we still seem to have ample. Where does it all come from??
Where did you get that map cushion.....I want one!

  3. There is so much stuff that we accumulate over time, I find it freeing getting rid of the stuff you really don't need. This school holidays I hope to do a bit more sorting out of the girls room too after I get ready for Christmas!! xx

  5. Decluttering is so calming for the soul. When I've tidied up the girls room they always enjoy the cleaner space, I just need to get them to keep it that way.

  6. I like the idea of simplicity parenting; really owing to moving around so much we've managed to avoid collecting masses of things for E. Sometimes I feel guilty when I see other children's "stuff" and compare it to the toys she has but really she is a very content kids and just as happy to play with my bag of buttons or the kitchen pans!

  7. Hi Allana,
Thanks for inspiring me to declutter! This is the perfect time to do it--before the new Christmas toys, etc. start rolling in...I too love the book "Simplicity Parenting". Happy Holidays! Lori
